Grows 4 feet tall in height, and it has pin-like leaves and pink flower heads. The root must be dried at temperatures below 105 degrees F for its medicinally active compounds to form. Ancient medical texts acknowledge the odor of the herb by calling the plant phu. Parts used are the whole root dried.
